Gideon Cohn was born in Sweden, grew up and lived on a kibbutz in Israel; and in Holland.
Possessing a zest for art since early childhood, he drew and painted whenever he could find art material. “serious art work” started in the early 90’s after he established his life in California, USA.
He studied the various aspects of Art, Interior Design, Architecture and CAD programs at the Collage of the Desert in Palm Desert, CA, while creating art in his studio. Much of Gideon’s art revolves around the human figure with a hint of surrealism. He developed his own unique styles through new techniques, being inspired by his surroundings and his extensive travels. He is constantly searching for new challenges and inspiration, looking for the creation that will sets him apart.
He was the proud owner of “IMAGES by Gideon” art gallery in Palm Springs, CA. for seven years, as well as “IMAGES Gallery Idyllwild” in Idyllwild, CA. for three years. In his galleries he featured his own art as well as guest artists. Currently he has a studio/gallery in La Quinta, CA. and sells his art in the Palm Springs area as well as LA, CA.
His art was and is shown in various galleries and art shows throughout California, where he won numerous awards; he also had a solo exhibition in a gallery in NYC.
He is very involved in the art community, member of several art organizations, curating art shows, jurying and judging for the La Quinta Art festival and other shows for years.
Gideon is the originator and the visionary of the art component of The Ophelia Project, a mentorship program involving 750 middle school and high school girls. He has been the Art Director of the Ophelia Project for 9 years.
